Ascent Trip ReportFrom Redding drive east on CA 299 to Fenders Ferry Rd (FSR 27); turn left and go approx 10 miles, crossing the Pitt River Bridge, to FSR 35N46; go right uphill 5.4 miles to crest at an open area; right on FSR 35N93; then 2.4 miles to Hogback Mountain and L.O. 1 mile before the L.O. there is a weathered L.O. sign. The road continues steeply uphill--at its crest (don't go downhill!)a short, unsigned spur goes right to the open summit area. The L.O., which is not regularly staffed, appeared to be in good condition. A PG&E technician was servicing the cell phone transmitter when Michael Brush and I arrived. 7.8 miles back to Fenders Ferry Rd.
