Ascent Trip ReportStarted my hike at Horse Meadow. I was not sure whether the Forest Road 31051 would be open and whether my RAV4 would be able to make it here. I was lucky this time. Last year when we came to climb Freel Peak and Jobs Sister (June 8, 2019), FR 31051 was locked at the entrance gate because of still plenty of snow accumulation.
From Horse Meadow, I first headed southeast to Peak 9048 SE, then I followed the ridge to Peaks 9840 and 10505, before reaching Jobs Peak. The peak had a big antenna and metal box, which seemed to be used for weather or seismic data collection and transmission. The summit register books were inside a big metal mailbox. Many notebooks stacked inside and were all filled with signatures. It needed a new notebook. The peak is very frequently visited.
Somehow the GPS track of my hike looks like a whale, it was an accidental art. On the descent I at 10240 ft actually followed a wrong trail descending down the NE ridge of Peak 10505. I turned around and created the upper half of the whale tail. One should just stay above 10240 ft, head west and cross this ridge to continue their descent. |
