Ascent Trip ReportI followed the driving directions provided by Ken Jones and Fred Brown. If not obvious, bear right across a cattle guard just beyond the ford of the Tularosa River to remain on FR 233.
There were a few patches of very light snow high on the drive to the saddle. Three trees were down across the road perhaps 50 yards below the saddle. There was room to turn my Jeep around there. Another tree was down across the road between the saddle and the locked gate.
I saw no other vehicles or hikers on the drive or hike, but did see three coyotes cross in front of me on the drive up and three javelinas cross in front of me on the descent. A very pleasant day with beautiful views! |
