Ascent Trip ReportThe road in was worse than I thought- while you could get to the corral without high clearance, even with high clearance the road was a slow drive. Beyond the corral it was quite rough and rocky. We followed Dean Gaudet's driving track (thanks Dean!). There is an unlocked gate at trailhead that one could drive through to get maybe 12 feet closer- we decided to just walk through it.
The trail is difficult to follow in several spots- initially (getting from the trailhead down to the canyon), between 7400' and 7600', and right as it attains the ridge around 8000'. That said, navigation is pretty straightforward, so regaining the trail is not too difficult.
At the ridge, there is a barbed wire fence, which the trail parallels. The trail went through an unlocked gate near the top of the last false summit on the ridge (8185'), and a downed gate we walked through just below the summit.
The trail is definitely not maintained, though the brush usually wasn't too bad - at least until the very last part of the ridgeline where it was nasty- thick and thorny. Great views from the summit.
