Ascent Trip ReportBushwack from the southeast USA side, starting on hwy #114 to the north side of Averill Mountain ...... 1.8 miles, 1 1/2 hour RT
From Norton VT, hwy junction #147/114 travel east on #114 for 4.8 miles to a parking on the left (this is 300 yards past Forest Lake road). Park here this is the TH.
At the east side of the parking a track leads north 200 yards to an abandoned cabin, then a track northwest into the woods. I lost the track at 200 yards so I bushwacked north, favoring left and always looking for the "easy way", open evergreen at the start, getting very dense/tough in places as I climbed higher, a lot of wets spots to contend with.
I came out at the Boundary swath 200 yards to the east of the Boundary Monument 531A, the swath is open with a used track, easy walking. Fairly flat section, a short granite monument, my GPS read 45.01136, 71.71483, elevation 626 meters.
