Ascent Trip Report

This is one where I absolutely recommend the hike. It is 9 miles round trip and worth every step. The trailhead was a little difficult to find at first because it is hiding behind the bridge on highway 178. It is on the EAST side of the bridge. Most trip reports say left or right but because is dependent on the direction you are coming from and 50% of the time those directions will be wrong. If you plug it into google maps it is at the Foothills Trail Access A4. That will take you right to the trailhead. The hike is about 9 miles round trip. The best part is the hike which is why a recommend doing this rather than the drive up. The summit is a bit sad with all the new construction where they scalped the mountain, probably some well meaning politician who had no regard for natural beauty and thought building a large concrete structure was best. Oh well, good views from up there at least!
