Ascent Trip Report

Traveled from the Black Pine Mtns earlier in the day to this one, via the Sublett Reservoir route. Roads were well maintained for the most part, a few ruts, and some Idaho pinstriping from willows and low hanging branches. Parked at what seemed like a decent starting point, and was not disappointed with the choice. The forest was easy to navigate through, and was able to avoid much bushwhacking between the treeline and open country. Went around the knoll on the way up to avoid any unnecessary climbing, and happened to find some game trails to use as well (especially on the descent). My legs were pretty tired for the earlier hike, and I had my 11 yr old puppy with me, so we took it slow and stopped frequently to rest. Still, it only took about 40 mins to get to the top. The views were amazing in every direction. Descent was unremarkable, and it was nice to have the trails to follow back to the truck. On the drive out, opted to take FS 571 east to Rockland because it looked much quicker to get out of the mountains...which it was.
