Ascent Trip Report

Parked at the Ebbetts Pass trailhead which has a restroom, but closed due to Covid. From the trailhead, hiked out about 4 miles, east side of the peak. Went off trail through shin-high brush before the terrain changes to scree/shale/rock climbing to the base of beautiful spires of rock walls. Went up higher heading to the west side by crossing over from the south, then went around to the north. Found the landing to the final approach to the peak. Getting to this final approach was pretty tricky. Final approach was a fun class 3. Go on a calm day, as the last 10 feet crawl to the summit can be pretty intimidating (narrow, full exposure, 1500' drop on all sides). Note: rocks/scree is unstable. I went with a couple hiking friends. One was hurt badly from fallen rocks, which caused us to be out longer on this hike. Ogul #50!
