Ascent Trip Report

once again I found my predecessors information / guidance to be invaluable and used Paul's GPS track to be extremely helpful. Staying on route towards the summit was somewhat of a challenge, but falling back on Paul's route kept me from adding too much wayward distance.

The best way for me to describe the summit block is as a "Gnarley P.O.S. !"

The description of the ascent of the summit block is accurate with the ramp up the north side. The summit is as bad as described but is attainable and not severely dangerous; just unnerving. Overall the summit is stable with the propensity of individual pieces of rock to crumble and arc off into the ether.

Other than during a lightning storm on one peak; this was my shortest stay on a summit ever. As I reached out my hand to tap the summit a piece about the size of a volleyball broke off under my arm and sailed out into the abyss to the West.

I tapped the top pinnacle crag and shimmied down.

6 top 100 summits in 3 days. Next: Selway river for rafting.
