Ascent Trip ReportI felt like a bit of a sucker on this one walking a good distance when I didn't need to. The original report back in 2003 stated that they took a path that was no longer a road. It's still a road, and a dang decent one compared to some I went over on this trip. It gets a bit rocky the first 1/8 of a mile or so but then it's a pretty mellow two-track. It was very dry when I was there but the road was not rutted. I left the road about a mile in to strike out northeast on some cow paths knowing I'd have to head north when I topped out anyway. I assume this is a decent road from the bottom all the way to the top of the plateau because on top the two-track coming from the south was still just as decent. Took different cow paths further north on the way down and drained down to the two-track again next to a big water trough.
I really think one could cut out all but the last 1/4 of mile or so with a 4wd. There was a verrrry old wooden post at the corner where I parked that might have once held a "this is no longer a road" sign, but there was nothing on the post. I did not see any 'no trespassing' signs at any point on this hike.
