Ascent Trip Report

Big Knob is one of two Beaver County high points. Excellent directions for both can be found on the County High Point Organization web page.

Big Knob Road is fairly busy, so I pulled off into a side street to park next to a house with a fascinating wood carving of birds atop an out door thermometer. The aged carver was working in the yard and seemed to be immensely pleased that I wanted to photograph his work. He explained that he had made two others after other folks who had wandered by begged him to make more. And "yes, that's the high point across the street, and no the neighbors won't mind if I climb up there."

A steep use path across the street climbs upward. I found the USGS 1927 benchmark (easy to find with two trees with yellow blazes next to it). Decent view looking east.

I will add the second Beaver County high point to the Peakbagger data base.
