Ascent Trip ReportWhat a beautiful mountain range!
Not gonna lie, I was very scared about this road heading in. I’m not anymore. My Tacoma handled it with ease. You can see where we parked on the track. Up to this point I had some 4low areas and needed the rear lockers once. We walked the last couple miles and am confident I could have parked on the summit, we were there to hike after all.
Hiking partner got sick so we did not go to Wheeler. I’ll come back again, drive over Patterson and further along towards Wheeler. Then drive back to Dean Gaudets track for South Sister. That road looked drivable. With the right rib, you can bag all 3 of these with very minimal hiking.
The worst of the road is just past Lobdell Lake. Aspens are turning yellow and orange, gonna be awesome colors coming soon.
