Ascent Trip ReportFrom Ed Levin, with stops at the 3 Monument Peaks, Mission Peak, and Mt. Allison. The route up from Ed Levin is fully exposed to the sun, but sees many less visitors. The walk from Monument Peak to Mission Peak is very quiet, rare to see anyone on this stretch of trail. Mission Peak had about a dozen people all taking turns posing on that giant stick. I tagged the high point and immediately left. Pretty much how I remembered the peak from my last visit about 6 years ago, although this was my first visit via Ed Levin.
I was thinking I would get a nonsummit on Mt. Allison after reading the reports of the cameras and sirens. I walked up the service road and saw a van on the summit, with its door open. I knew then that at least the alarms wouldn't go off. I walked up, thinking I would ask for permission, but I didn't see anyone nearby so I just walked by the van and over to the bench and the high point. I was slightly nervous walking back down until I passed the van but made it without incident.
