Ascent Trip ReportMount Whitney Summit, elevation 14,508 ft. The tallest mountain in the Lower 48 States.
After a Summer of training.. mountain biking everyday and long distance high altitude hikes with heavy packs.. it was time to tackle the 22 mile round trip hike with 6,100 ft of elevation gain into thin air! Completed Labor Weekend 2019!
Camped at Whitney Portal Thursday afternoon. Up at 0100. On the trail by 0200. Refilled water at Trail Camp at 0600 and started 99 switch-backs. Made Trail Crest at 0830. Summit at 1100. Back at Whitney Portal at 1900.
