Ascent Trip ReportParked at the entrance of and used the forest road starting at 31825 16315. Extensive recent planting on this hill means that this might become the only feasible route in years to come.
Once through the gate, which was unlocked when I was there, the forest road goes much further than is shown on the ordnance survey currently. The road zig zags its way up and makes for an easy ascent to just below pt466 at the east end of the summit area. At a quarry there a rough vehicle track rears up 10m or so and continues as an ATV track for the 500m west along the largely level summit area. Approaching the top the saplings converge so there may be a bit of a fight to get through them when they grow up.
There are currently alternative routes from Cacrabank Farm and from Cacra Bank but a newly constructed deer fence now circling the hill needs to be negotiated and, whilst more direct, is a lot steeper.
