Ascent Trip ReportTrail to Ingalls Creek is in great shape. At Ingalls Creek you'll find your last reliable water source, load up, you'll need it. The fording is easy, low water at the moment. From Ingalls Creek the first 1000 feet of gain are a bushwhack not the worse I've ever experienced, but certainly unpleasant. After the first 1000 feet, the remaining 3000 or so are on a combination of heather, scree, and boulders. The summit block is protected in every direction by climbing routes and the easiest route is a 4th class scramble that would suck to down climb. Our party had a rope and we used it on both the way up and to rappel down. The small ridge walk to the true summit has an exposed section to the south side. A Mountaineers summit register in a burly metal tube awaits you. |
