Ascent Trip Report

The DNR gate at 400 ft was open but since it was signed as non-motorized use only, I biked up from there. Lots of logging traffic on the first 2 miles of road then almost none. The Weyerhaeuser gate at 3000 ft was also open so a scofflaw peakbagger could have driven to within 300 ft of the top. Oh well, I wanted exercise and I got some. 4400 ft of elevation gain. The road is tank-trapped at 3900 ft but easily walked the rest of the way to its end at 4100 ft. From there it is an unpleasant but blissfully short bushwhack to the top. Both gates were still open on my return (3:30 pm on a weekday).
