Ascent Trip Report

After a morning ascent of Sommet de Lure. En route I run short of diesel and am lucky to find a self-service filling station, in this quiet area.

Drove up from ESE, mostly good unpaved road, no difficulties in my Ford Focus. Parked at 1890m as next section is rutted, but turned out to improve after 200m (after a building, possible refuge?) so I probably could have driven, but enjoyed sunny walk, shortcutting across pasture (met sheepdog and sheep, all civil but I descended by a less direct route). 2 pickups passed me as I parked, and left the summit just before l arrived. 2 gliders circling. Lovely views: Cordeil group opposite looks interesting, Ecrins group well seen. About 40mins drive from D900 road and 90mins round trip hike from 1890m

NB trail from NW, Verdaches, seems well marked, sign at top calls it a vertical kilometre, presumably it's well used.

Late afternoon I 'climb' Mont Colombis.
