Ascent Trip ReportAfter a rainy morning ascent of Le Grand Veymont.
From NW, top of D18 road, Ceuze 2000. Clockwise circuit loosely as Martin's but where track descends I contoured using animal tracks then rising traverse crossing several grassy reentrants, some minor broomy bushwhack, then straight up to top of ski tow just below simmit. Highpoint seems to be 14m N of signpost. Followed impressive clifftop almost 1km before descending via NW top. Fresh sunny afternoon after 2 days rain, nice light, Bure impressive but its summit in cloud as are summits to east, although Ventoux to south is clear. 1h05 up, 1h down. Large flock of sheep just above trailhead, with shepherd and 3 dogs all friendly, I skirt round above to avoid them.
Montagne de Céüse photos
Next morning I climbed its taller neighbour Pic de Bure. |
