Ascent Trip Report

A nice hike with more open terrain than most of the other hikes we did. Nice views and many trails although it was quite muddy. The highlight was the swallowtails bundling up to the thistles and other flowers swarming for nectar and completely unafraid of us taking photos of them inches away.

Daniel's buddy from college John Guin now lives in NC and drove up to join us. It was nice having a hike with John who we had not seen in awhile. On the way home Karen's brakes went out and the river was running so wild from all the rain that we could not get in the tubbing we planned.
