Ascent Trip Report

Parked in usual place at forestry track entrance (NM93159 46377) following zig-zags to plantion access gate with unlocked hand gate giving access. The track continues but I chose to head uphill fairly early on as did not know where track may lead, case of picking best route through harvested forest tending to follow grassed areas.
On reaching NE corner of 170m contour turned right and found highest point which happens to be bang on 181m OS spot height. Ground obviously disturbed by up rooted tree stumps but this is higher than raised ground to WSW outside the 180m contour.
Went on to visit trig and have to say this is the highlight of the hill. Planned to return by ascent route but spotted track 250m lower to the right then followed it back to gate then van, with hindsight would have been better to stick with track for the ascent
