Ascent Trip ReportDrove up here on a hot summer day. FH7 is passable by any car but it's dusty. Very dusty, and not paved passed Alder Springs. The road to Anthony Peak is a little more messed up, but it's still in fine condition and I believe most vehicles can make it almost to the top. Almost because it does get pretty rutted out where you can finally see the tower, and this is where I pulled off. The walk up was nice. There was a forest service worker at the fire lookout. We got chatting and she said she almost never sees anyone up top, pretty much only hunters when the season starts, and even then rarely. There are two rock outcrops, both with USGS markers so I went to both. Off to Black Butte on the way back down.. |
