Ascent Trip ReportMy second trip to Saranac Lake/ Lake Placid this summer. I decided to redo Scarface Mountain as I realized that I was a bit short of reaching the true summit on my first hike a few weeks ago. Once you arrive at the open rock ledge with a nice view, you have to walk on the herd path for close to a mile to reach the true summit (I was about 1/4 mile short on my first hike). The herd path seems endless, but just follow it to its end. You will reach an open area where there is the well known Scarface sign nailed into a tree. 1:40 up and 1:40 down, at times difficult to follow the herd trail.
