Ascent of West Craggy on 2020-08-13
|Date:||Thursday, August 13, 2020|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||8366 ft / 2549 m|
Ascent Trip Report7:15am start with my dog. Followed Copper Gulch Trail up until just before first tarn. A bit confusing where to leave trail, but had a few tracks downloaded and tried my best to follow them through the bushwhack/blowdown area. From there, it's endless scree to the summit. The traverse to West Craggy was a little more enjoyable. Descend the ridge to the gap, and cut below the gendarme. Maintain that elevation while traversing until you see the obvious gully (Loose Class 2+). From there its an easy walk up to the summit. Descending was scree surfing into the giant bowl of rockfall. Boulder hopped to the tarn, which has a nice campsite if overnighting. Bushwhack/blowdown hop back to trail. Back to car around 2:40pm.
