Ascent Trip ReportThis was a nice break after the excitement of Courte-Echelle a day earlier. Was a bit longer than I anticipated, and completed this in a relative hurry as I was anxious to get back to camp in Center Basin and begin the long haul back up University Pass. Left the trail just after a couple of short switchbacks on the peak’s east face. Mostly class 2 up with some class 3 boulders as I generally when straight up without bothering to do any routefinding.
At first it wasn’t obvious which outcrop at the top was the summit, but became clear it was the northmost one. I didn’t look too hard for a register but didn’t find one. The summit was slightly detached from the rest of the peak, which didn’t surprise me too much as the metric maps always seem to have some critical detail they left off on each of my trips involving them this year. Luckily it was still trivial to approach the summit. Just a short class 3 downclimb, a bit loose where I went, then solid back up to the true summit. Tons of exposure just past the summit but from the climb up to and actually right at the top there was not really any exposure at all.
