Ascent Trip Report

The culmination of an epic day-walk on the GR5 from Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval to Chamonix. The valley of the Giffre to that of the Arve. 26 km with a total ascent en route of approximately 2,200 metres. 9 hours including all stops. Cloudless blue sky, moderate temperature, forests, meadows, waterfalls, rockfaces, streams, rivers, bridges, a gorgeous lake, 2 mountain huts, 9 ibex, abundant flora and increasingly excellent views of the Mont Blanc massif at each col. All in all so perfect that alpine walking really doesn’t get better than this!
