Ascent Trip Report

I recall seeing Camel Peak when I hiked Cleve Creek Baldy several years ago. After hiking Schell Creek Peak 3460 with my friends Kent and Allison I camped near Success Summit. Kent and Allison had another commitment so they would not accompany me on this day's hike. I rode the ATV up the forest service road to the saddle between Camel Peak and the Duck Creek Range HP.

From the saddle I entered the woods on the east of the main ridge. Then I followed a social trail that turns more into a series of game trails along the flat bench just on the east side of a spine like rock formation. This trails works its way through the forest then goes up the ridge, slightly off to the west side of the spine to the summit. There is a large cairn w/o a register on the first summit (albeit seems higher than the south summit) and there is a small cairn with a register on the second summit. I returned by following the same trail(s) back to the main saddle. Great views from the summit of Camel Peak.
