Ascent Trip Report

Earlier County High Point trip reports give elaborate directions, but if it's not ski season this one is a drive up. Drive past the Seven Springs hotel in a big loop on the resort service roads up to the top of the ski runs where you'll find a restaurant, an artificial lake, and several service buildings. Follow the road around the southwest side of the restaurant to an area clearly slightly higher than the rest. I walked this area with my GPS altimeter. I got the highest readings on mounds around the structures at the top of the chair lift, but these mounds are probably man made. There are several rock piles, and I climbed them, but most of them looked like piles made during construction. Readings on the various rock piles were all slightly lower than the area around the chair lift; and all of my readings were at least 5-6 feet lower than the official elevation of 2994.
