Ascent Trip ReportPublic. Hiking/driving track attached. Where the road makes a sharp turn from Northbound to Eastbound at 8500' the road turns from Outback-ish to 4WD in my opinion. Rough but not horrible from here and should be doable for most vehicles suitable for mtn driving. Park at road end at 8540' saddle. Good trail towards the saddle with Independence and plentiful flowers. Leave the trail near the saddle and generally work the oblique ridge. Some faint paths here and there but also some modest brush and boulder fields so the going was slow. Can't recommend our micro-route but it worked. Wide views at the summit. Gathering clouds but no thunderstorms. |
