Ascent Trip Report

After this morning's ascent of Monte Pisanino.

From W, Doccia del Cimone, large layby, route as marked on OpenStreetMap (Kompass unhelpful), paved road opposite leads past buildings, red and white trail markings indicate L turn which heads uphill, reaching stream Rio Cella but not crossing it, track leads up thru woodland passing L of an old utility building, up open slopes with summit visible ahead, crossing a track then becoming a 4wd/quad track leading to summit, marked with a cairn; nearby a black Madonna and a fancy viewfinder; a small military installation is lower, and has what appears to be an observatory building, although sign by door suggests CAI ownership.

1h05 ascent after a thunderstorm stole part of my afternoon, 15 mins on summit, 2h round trip; once back in the forest I followed the alternative path shown on OSM, although unsure if an approved route! Then late evening drive to tomorrow's peak Monte Amiata.
