Ascent Trip Reportwww.strava.com/activities/3758942723
I spent the night at the Lake of the False Prophet. It was a cloudy day but I was lucky that I mostly could hike in the clear. The route finding is straight forward. I think it was all class 2. Just at the ridge there was a snowfield to cross that was perhaps 60 degrees. But no problem with crampons and ice ax. The last part to the top is marked by a large cairn. I misinterpreted that cairn to be a route from the other side. I scrambled up on the left side which was perhaps a class 4. In the way down I saw that the cairn was really a sign for the main route. Although the scramble is steep it is very easy with large holds that present no challenge. I think it is that last scramble that makes the route a I.3 according to the olympic mountain guide. |
