Jobs Report: Heading off of Jobs sis is steep and slick up top. But as you drop it becomes steep and sandy which makes for some fun descending because you just sink in. The trail switch backs to help with the steepness. Once the trail flattens out a bit more and heads into the rocks and trees, I found it hard to follow and had my Gaia app open. There is a faint trail at times, but I kept losing it. Basically you want to take the ridge until you get up high and can see exactly where the trail goes up towards Jobs. Once at that point the trail is a gradual climb up towards the base of Jobs and then gets steep as you head up towards the summit. The summit reg is in a mailbox on the plateau. I feel like the summit is actually on the rock ridge....I went up there for good measure because it was higher than were the reg was.
Full report below: From freel you can see the trail drop off the East side and stretch out towards Jobs sis. I love routes where you can see exactly where you're going to be going. The descent down from Freel is a bit rocky and in some party slick. I didn't bomb it. Once down the trail is flat until you start to climb up Jobs sis. That trail is easy to follow and very nice! Nothing to call out summit or trail wise. No summit reg that I saw at the top of Jobs sis. I could see the clouds forming off in the distance but it wasn't anything alarming at this point. You could tell they were storm clouds but they were still a good distance away. I retraced my steps back to the ridge and then down a STEEP trail that eventually ended at the 4wd fire road I drove up and parked my car. By then it was raining and thundering. |
