Ascent Trip ReportThe timing worked out perfectly. The weather was perfect for us. We only saw one other team of two on the mountain. On the way up (DC route) just past the cleaver we veered left to cross a crevasse and then we should have come back to the right, but went basically straight up still trending left. We ending up realizing we were too far left and came back a little, and found a place to cross a crevasse and then had to climb a pretty steep pitch where we set a running belay. From there it was straight forward as we were at the crater rim within about 10 minutes after that. One of our team got a little altitude sickness, so we didn't spend much time at the top. Descending back down was much easier as we found a flagged route that the guides had just established within the last day or two. It took us safely through and around the crevasses and was a much more direct route back to the top of the cleaver. It was straight forward back down. By the time we got back to camp Muir I was beat! But we still had over four miles to go. Overall it took us almost 21 hours in one single push. We started from the car just after 9:00 pm. Got to camp Muir at about 1:30 am where we took an extended break to melt some snow and refill our water. We were on the summit just after 10:00 am. Back at camp Muir just after 3:00 pm and back to the car about 6:00 pm. It was such a long day! But so worth it.
