Ascent Trip Report

From Mt Sawyer, took the trail down to the last switchback and bushwacked up along the ridge from there. It's not a long or technical bushwack, but we both found it exhausting due to the amount of brush. Occasionally we'd find a short section of deer or goat path to follow, but mostly it was pushing uphill through knee- to head-height bushes and branches. The one saving grace is it's early enough in the season that most of the foliage hasn't completely leafed out yet. Once it does, this will be even more annoying. For that reason alone I don't think I'd do this bushwack any later in the season.

Lots of blowdowns in the forested ridge after the first false summit, but the ridge eventually opens up, and the last couple hundred feet to the summit is a glorious walk along rocky heather and wildflower slopes with jaw-dropping views of Mts Daniel and Hinman. The actual high point has trees blocking the views, so we ran up and tagged it and then backtracked to lounge at the meadows.

A few patches of snow on the summit; melting fast.
