Ascent Trip Report

I believe that many other trip reports send you to the wrong corner marker. Read this trip report for details on the differences.

After hiking up the Ricketts Tower liner, I drove south on PA487 to a parking area on the right just before a bend to the left in the road. There's a small sign that says Grandview Trail to the left once you park. I had to lose a little elevation before turning right at a junction that is almost visible from the parking area. The trail is an old road that mosies up over a saddle and then down into a vale north of the peak. There's a left hand turn onto a singletrack trail off of the old road. This keeps you on the Grandview Trail, so it's not confusing. The trail then ascends and is bounded by thick bushes, maybe alders, and on the right side of the trail you will find a fence with no trespassing signs. Somewhere about here on the left I saw a square concrete marker that was painted white, but otherwise unmarked. This appeared to be the top and lined up with my location on the Peakbagger app. I continued on as the trail turned left softly and went up to the fire tower. I then reread some trip reports that said to take a game trail off the summit down to the county corner marker. I found such a game trail and went west to the marker by more "No Trespassing" signs. This marker is not painted white, but is otherwise the same. I checked the app and realized the confusion. This grey concrete is a corner of Ricketts Glen State Park's boundary, but the county corner monument is the white painted marker that's just a foot off the Grandview Trail. Don't get these mixed up!
