Ascent Trip ReportFun day of peakbagging with my dad in the Crystal Mountain area. We parked at the Sand Flats horse camp and headed up the Northway trail. We saw a coyote near where the trail meets the ridge, but otherwise uneventful.
We hiked south on the well maintained trail/road and bagged Northway Notch, Northway, Grubstake, and Summit House peaks in quick succession. From the saddle between Summit House and Silver Queen, we traversed on climber's trails and elk trails around to the saddle with the Throne. We quickly scrambled the ridge to the Throne, then back down and up to Silver Queen. We dropped down the East Ridge of Silver Queen until it intersected with a climber's trail, which we followed back to the road to Summit House. We got some food and hung out on the patio area and used the real restrooms. It had a very Swiss Alpine feel to it.
We descended the Green Valley trail, until it met the Kelley's Gap Road, then from the vicinity of the employee housing we took the access road/trail back to the Sand Flats, meeting 3 equestrians along the way.
