Ascent Trip Report

Initially planned to do the Big Slide/Yard Mountain Loop but threw out Yard Mountain and made it an out-and-back in the interest of time. Arrived to the garden trailhead around 5:30 AM (note - there is a $10 fee to park at the top, or you can park in town 1.5 miles down the road. The trade-off, of course, is an additional mile and a half added to your hike).

Beautiful views of Keene Valley blanketed in fog from First Brother. Arrived at Big Slide at 7:30 after hitting each of the three Brothers peaks. Lots of muddy areas, especially after First Brother. Lots of intense uphill with stretches of rock scramble on the way up, making the way down a doozy on the knees, but all in all was very well worth it. Arrived back to trailhead at 9:30.
