Ascent Trip Report

Did this hike on a fairly warm summer day. Started about 8:20 and finished about 2 pm. First time ascending directly to Windy Gap. The trail is well trodden but very steep in places. The section between Mt. Hawkins and Copter Ridge varied greatly: some stretches were quite steep, others were not too bad; in some places the use trail was evident, in others it was virtually non-existent. But the general route is clear as you are following the ridgeline down. However, there are a couple of ridges that go to the east and west, so you do need to be a little observant. Most people I encountered today had face coverings. Glad to see that it is improving.
