Ascent Trip Report

Left the White Water campground on Friday the 26th at 1330. When we arrived at camp Schurman, the weather was looking a bit problematic, but when we woke up a 0000, the sky was clear so we headed for the summit. From the time we left camp until we got to the summit, the wind was between 30-60 mph. There was little talking, lots of labored breathing, and a good bit of hallucinating. Everyone in our party of 4 got altitude sick and were very tired with little water or food, but we found shelter from the wind on the crater rim and rested there for a bit. Chad was exhausted and decided to stay and rest while Alex, Danny, and I went the last bit to the summit. Feeling much better, we went for it, took a picture, and headed right back down as winds were likely 60-70 mph. Meeting Chad again, we started down and got to camp Schurman around 1300. After some food and rest, we headed back down to the car, saving loads of time thanks to our good friend gravity and some glissade chutes.

Overall, an epic trip and mentally challenging for me.
