Ascent of Rogers Peak on 2020-06-11
|Date:||Thursday, June 11, 2020|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||3706 ft / 1129 m|
Ascent Trip ReportParked below the Gilmore Gate. The gate was opened, but clearly signed no unauthorized motor vehicles. I went during the week and passed 3 logging trucks on the way up, fortunately at spots where pulling over was easy. There are definitely spots on some corners where I would not like to encounter a truck coming the other way. Hike to top was on well-maintained logging roads (I did not take the shortcut mentioned in some previous posts) until the short ascent to the peak. The trail to the peak is on a disused, overgrown road that is not particularly easy to find (the logging road passes the summit and there is a vague trail back up to the peak on the left where the road tops out). If you continue along the road after summiting, it opens up onto a larger clearcut after another half mile offering impressive views to the west.
