Ascent Trip ReportThis is another VT peak that I'm almost certain I've been to before, but lacking GPS evidence I needed to visit again, plus it was a good opportunity for a quick afternoon hike with a short drive, which since I've been living in Colorado, I've really come to appreciate.
My wife and I did a quick out and back from the App Gap heading south on the Long Trail. The first Mad River chairlift is a little over a mile in, the single chair a little over 2 miles in and the high point on the Stark ridge line is a little under 3 miles in. Of course I got in trouble because I eyeballed the hike at 2 miles out and then it rained on us, which actually felt pretty good given how oppressively hot and muggy it's been, but still, I've learned my lesson for at least the next few hikes: don't eyeball the distance or the weather :)
Overall, it was a bit less than 6 miles round trip and 1300 feet of net gain, and I'm not sure if I should believe my GPS telling me that it was over 2300 feet of total gain.
