Ascent Trip Report

6-person party. Started a little after 8AM 6/20; made it to Lena Creek camp by 1:30PM. Bushwacking through moss up Lena Creek was tricky but successful staying to the right of the canyon and sticking to the moss-covered rock and fallen trees. On 6/21 started summit push around 6:45AM. Followed boot bath with some getting off trail up the burn debris field, but got back on track. Followed boot track easy up to Lunch Rock and then transitioned to snow. Some tricky snow-to rock transitions up the narrowest portion of Hourglass but didn't require protection. Getting to the summit block, we took of crampons and transitioned to rock. Followed the wide gully all the way to a narrow saddle and started climbing 4th class before we realized we were not on the summit pinnacle. Down-climbed and found the large cairns marking a narrow gully that quickly opened up to a boot bath tracking around one of the pinnacles and up to the true summit. Summit a little after 10AM. On our way down a snow bridge had collapsed making the narrow/tricky rock snow transition even trickier, but still doable without protection. Back at camp by 1:30PM, packed up, and headed out. Back at cars before 6PM.
