Ascent Trip ReportParked at Roy Taylor Forest Overlook. Mile 433.3 on the BRP and Locust Gap on the topo. Faint trail heads downslope from the SE end of the overlook. I hiked it for a short distance avoiding brambles and thorns on my left before heading upslope thru easily traveled evergreen forest.
On the way back down from the summit I wandered over to an open area to the east of the overlook and perhaps less than a 100 feet above the road. This area featured moss covered rock and a variety of azaleas and rhododendron in full bloom. Very colorful on a cloudy/foggy day in mid June. |
