Ascent Trip ReportCannon was my first summit of the day, and I would subsequently proceed to North and South Kinsman. During the morning drive up from MA, I was disappointed to see the sky becoming increasingly overcast. I resolved that, while I might not see a single view all day (I would go on to see several, fortunately), I would still benefit from the exercise. I parked my car at the Old Bridle Path trailhead on the East side of I-93 and started my ascent from the Lafayette campground. As is my custom, I set an overly-ambitious pace in the first mile heading up Hi-Cannon Trail, and had to continually moderate my speed. Given the forecast, I passed a surprising number of other hikers on the way up. Although it was my first time hiking to this summit on foot, I had been at the top of Cannon on Columbus Day the Fall prior by means of the Aerial Tramway. Thanks to that experience, I was able to imagine what the view would have been, had I not been inside a cloud. From there I made my way on the Kinsman Ridge Trail over the "Cannon Balls" en route to North Kinsman.
