Ascent Trip ReportWe made it! After being thoroughly flummoxed by the cliffed out area near "Littler" Kachess (Point 4884), we came back today. There's an easy route down the steep slope - keep going to the edge of the ridge and look to the left. Watch out for some loose rock. The rest of the way up Little Kachess is pretty easygoing. We did not need microspikes or ice axes - the snow on the south face is mostly melted out, and what few patches remain are easy to cross.
From the peak we saw much more snow on the north side, and footprints through it - likely from the other party with the GPS track today. May still need an ice ax and spikes if doing a loop trip. |
