Ascent Trip ReportReserved a spot at the Derrick Knob shelter on the AT west of Clingman's Dome. Left Clingman's parking lot at 7:30 AM, arrived at Derrick Knob shelter around 12:30, after having also tagged Siler's Knob on the way. Dumped my pack and slack-packed out and back to the summit of Thunderhead, about 8 miles round trip. Long day.
Spent the night at Derrick Knob and hiked out the next day. |
