Ascent Trip Report

The trail has reopened but the campground at the base of the mountain is still closed. It costs $10 to get into the reservation but this hike is well worth it. It goes through a beautiful old-growth forest containing pines, furs, and oaks. Some of the trees were 6+ feet in diameter well over 100 feet tall. I also saw coyotes, deer, bunnies, squirrels, woodpeckers, and many other little creatures.
The only downside to this hike is the flies. They are relentless and I wouldn't go back here without a mosquito net for the forested section of the trail. Besides that, there are great views from the top of Mount Baldy, Gorgonio, Jacinto, the Salton Sea, and much more.
