Ascent Trip Report

Attempted via the South Gully. Hiked in from Eagle River Nature Center. After splitting off from the Crow Pass Trail, we followed a track that took us bushwhacking along cliffs and through some dense vegetation. Slow and steep. Eventually we linked up with a surprisingly decent trail that took us to the moraine. Travel on the moraine is fairly quick, though on this day the rocks were very slippery. At this point we were hiking into thick, low clouds and light rain. By the time we turned off of the moraine and started heading uphill again, the light rain turned to snow and visibility was very limited. Cold, wet, and unable to see most of our surroundings with 3,000 ft. left to gain, we called it a day and turned around. Following a different track on the descent, we found better trail and quicker travel, and hiked out easily in the rain.

Recommend using Nate's track!
