Many many thanks to Kelley and Greg for their hard effort and fantastic job of trimming the unyielding and ever wildly growing trail. Cheers! Applause! You're Awesome!
We had chosen a cool cloudy day several weeks ago to hike this but it was the first weekend Dripping Springs was closed due to Covid-19. This time would be warmer but
still only about 62 on the summit. We lost contact with most other hikers after about 4 miles in. On the summit we found the Triangulation Station mark with the register,
and found both Reference marks intact too. Climbed the fun class 3 summit block behind the big Coulter pine. Our return hike was mostly non-stop since we took almost all
our wildflower, insect, and lizard photos on the ascent. About 20 instances of poison oak encroaching on the trail. Though careful, I touched it with my right pinky and
left calf, let you know in a week if I got it. Since we spent lots of time taking photos, my track had too many points, so this is a filtered version attached. Correct stats above.
Wildflowers/plants/trees we saw: sweet pea, common phacelia, deerweed, chapparal beard-tongue, morning glory, wide throat monkeyflower, yellow pincushion, buckwheat, pearly everlasting, lupine, salmon
monkeyflower, scarlet monkeyflower, gooseberry flowered fuschia, blue dicks, golden yarrow, blue larkspur, scarlet buglar, milkweed, yerba santa, black sage, white sage, silver puffs, chia, chamise, ceanothus, splendid mariposa lily, silver leaf lotus, clematis, wild cucumber, peonies (gone by), wooly blue curls, penstemon, primrose, purple nightshade, our lord's candle, purple leaf daisy, indian pink, canterbury bells, wishbone bush.
Manzanita, redshank, lilacs, lemonade berry, feather grass, poison oak, basket bush, live oaks, sycamores, coulter pines.
