Ascent Trip ReportI traversed the South side of the ridge from Wonder Mountain West. It was certainly adventuresome, requiring significant route finding, steep side-hilling, climbing up and down loose gullies, and some sketchy scrambling on crumbly rock. I did not visit all of the high points on the ridge but bypassed most of them on the South side. I can’t really recommend the route if the East high point is your goal; probably better to climb more direct as others have reported. Wonder West is definitely worth a look, however, whether in the same day or as its own venture. I descended directly SW to intersect the abandoned road a little above the creek crossings. This was very steep and required crossing two stream gullies higher up. |
